The organizers behind B.A.C.O.N. are just like the song says, makin their way, the only way they know how. We don't have any visions of grandeur here. We don't believe our contests will reduce the number of feral hogs, but we're happy to encourage persons to make a dent. We don't believe anyone is going to get rich hog hunting or promoting a hog hunting contest. We do believe our hog hunting contest will encourage people to get out and socialize with family and friends. We believe people will be incentivized to take their children along and continue a rich tradition of sharing the hunting lifestyle with future generations.
The founders grew up in the 80's, where it was great to be a kid. Outdoor activities included hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and ATV's. From weekend bon fires in the woods and shot-gunning beer with a funnel to building some of the loudest car audio systems in the country during the 90's. All that gave way to jobs in Information Technology because, well it paid the most and gave them the ability to afford adult level toys for boys! They managed season and annual hunting leases through the 2000's and 2010's, before the urban sprawl sucked all the fun out of that. They turned their attention to participating in other hunting contests for more than a decade, and that paved the way for them to developing their own hunting contest.
